The South Dakota State women's basketball program has officially announced the addition of Dru Gylten to the 2022-23 team as a graduate transfer. Gylten, a Rapid City, S.D. native, comes to SDSU following five seasons at the University of Utah.

"Jackrabbit Nation, please help me welcome Dru and her family home to South Dakota State University," said
Aaron Johnston, South Dakota State's head coach. "It's been fun to follow Dru's exceptional career as a high school and collegiate athlete. She is an elite point guard who always makes her teammates better and her style of play fits our system perfectly."
Gylten started every game of her Utah career, 104 games, and dished out 553 career assists, which ranks fourth in program history. The point guard led the Pac-12 in total assists (147) and assists per game (5.2) as a senior while playing 25 minutes a night. Gylten also contributed 4.9 points and 3.0 rebounds on average. She gave out at least five assists in 18 games this season, including in three of the four Pac-12 Tournament contests. Gylten and the Utes advanced to the championship game of the Pac-12 Tournament for the first time in program history and made an appearance in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2011.
During her junior season, Gylten averaged 29.6 minutes, 8.1 points, 5.2 assists and 3.4 rebounds in 15 games before suffering a season-ending injury. Through those 15 games she ranked first in the Pac-12 in total assists and assists per game. She had six double-digit scoring games and set a new career high with 13 assists, the most single-game assists by a Pac-12 player that season.
Gylten played 30 games as a sophomore and averaged 26.7 minutes, 6.9 points, 5.3 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.4 steals for the Utes. She finished the season tied for second in the Pac-12 and 22nd in the country in total assists (159) and was third in the conference and 23rd in the nation in assists per game. She led the Utes in assists in 24 of her 30 games and had double-digit assists three times.
As a redshirt freshman, Gylten earned Pac-12 All-Freshman first-team honors after averaging 31.8 minutes, 8.8 points, 5.5 assists and 2.7 rebounds per game. She led the team in assists, ranked fourth in the conference and was 27th nationally. Gylten posted at least five assists in 20 of Utah's 30 games and had double-digit helpers twice.
Gylten has been named to the Nancy Lieberman Award Watch List three times in her career.
Gylten also excels off the court. She has picked up a number of academic honors, including Utah's AD Honor Roll, Utah's Dean's List, the Pac-12's Winter Academic Honor Roll and the Pac-12's 2019 All-Academic second team. Gylten was named the 2021 Bennion Athletes in Service Award Winner.
Gylten is a 2017 graduate of St. Thomas More High School, where she lettered in basketball, volleyball and track and field. She won four straight basketball state championships with the Cavaliers and graduated as the program's record holder in assists and steals.
