VERONA, Wis. - The South Dakota State men's golf team sits in 18th place following the opening round of the Badger Invitational at the University Ridge Golf Course.
The Jackrabbits are 21-over-par as a team after 18 holes. Matthew Schaefer carded a 74 (+2) is is tied for 45th place to lead the squad.
Blake Schaper was the next best SDSU golfer, tallying a 77 (+5) on day one. Ty Kretz and Lucas Schaefbauer each recorded a 79 (+7) and Jonah Dohrer rounded out the group with an 80 (+8).
Texas A&M tops the team leaderboard at 9-under. Marquette's Max Lyons is the individual leader at five-under.
The tournament, which has been shortened to only two rounds due to weather, will wrap up Tuesday.
