MEN'S GOLF VOTED FIFTH IN PRESEASON POLL

The South Dakota State men's golf team was picked to finish tied for fifth in the Summit League preseason coaches' poll released Thursday by the conference office. Ty Kretz was named the team's golfer to watch.
Kretz, a sophomore, competed in four events for the Jackrabbits this fall. He averaged 73.5 shots per round and finished under par on five of his 11 rounds played. Kretz finished third at the Iowa Fall Classic in October with a 218 (+2) scorecard.
SDSU tied with St. Thomas in the poll as each team collected 43 points. North Dakota State earned the poll's top spot with 77 points and eight first-place votes, followed by Oral Roberts in second and Denver in third with one first-place vote apiece. Kansas City was picked fourth.
The Jackrabbits finished fourth at last year's Summit League Championship. Kretz finished in a tie for 16th place in the individual standings.
SDSU opens the spring slate February 10 at the Wyoming World Match Play Championship in Palm Desert, California.
