HOMER, Neb. - Led by a 4-under round from
Luke Honner, the South Dakota State men's golf team sits in second place after the first day of the Throw Down Up Top at Landmand Golf Club.
The teams played all of round one Tuesday and completed the majority of round two before play was suspended due to darkness.
Honner is tied for first place with a 9-under scorecard. He tallied a 69 (-4) on his opening 18 holes and is 5-under on this second lap with two holes to play. The sophomore posted 10 birdies and an eagle during Tuesday's 34 total holes.
Bryson Mercier is tied for eighth place through 34 holes. He tallied a 73 (E) during round one and is 1-under so far in round two.
Ty Kretz is in 34th place (+5),
Jonah Dohrer is in 39th place (+7) and
Lucas Schaefbauer rounds out the squad in 53rd place (+14).
Additionally,
Tyler Seeling,
Tucker D'Allaird,
Blake Schaper and
Marco Lin are competing individually. Seeling is in 12th place (+1), D'Allaird is in 22nd place (+3), Schaper is in 43rd (+8) and Lin is in 50th place (+12).
The Jackrabbits are 25 shots behind Creighton, who leads the field, and two shots ahead of Indian Hills Community College.
The rest of round two and the whole of round three will be played Wednesday.
