SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - The South Dakota State men's golf team wrapped the opening day of action at the Desert Mountain Collegiate in 13th place.
Ty Kretz is in a tie for 15th place to lead the squad in the individual standings.
The teams completed the first 18 holes, then continued through the majority of round two before play was suspended due to darkness. Action will pick up where it left off Sunday morning.
Kretz is currently 1-over over through 31 holes. He posted a 76 (+4) on the first trip around the course and is 3-under through 13 holes of the second lap. He tallied seven birdies on the day, including three birdies in a four holes stretch of round two.
Matthew Schaefer is in a tie for 42nd place. He carded a 73 (+1) on round one with a solid back-nine holes, but is 5-over in the second round.
Jonah Dohrer and
Blake Schaper are part of a tie for 60th place at +9, and
Luke Honner is in a tie for 84th place (+14).
No. 22 Mississippi State holds a four-shot lead over Santa Clara for first place. The Bulldogs' Run Pretorius tops the individual standings at 6-under.
Play will resume Sunday morning at 9 a.m. CT.
