South Dakota State's
Ty Kretz has been named the Summit League Peak Golfer of the week, as announced by the conference office Thursday.
Kretz earned medalist honors at the Duel at the Bluffs Monday and helped the Jacks to a first-place finish over South Dakota in Vermillion. Kretz shares the weekly honor with Connor Wilson of Omaha, who also finished first in his respective tournament.
Kretz was hot from start to finish at the Bluffs and carded an SDSU 36-hole scoring record of 131 (-13). Kretz opened the event by tying the SDSU single-round record with a 65 (-7), then was just one shot off that in his second loop later that afternoon, posting a 66 (-6) to secure the individual title.
The sophomore's performance helped SDSU turn in a 546 (-30) final tally, a new program best for 36 holes. This is the second weekly honor of his career.
The Jackrabbits travel to Iowa City for the Hawkeye Invitational Friday and Saturday at the Finkbine Golf Course.
