IOWA CITY - The South Dakota State men's golf team is in eighth place after day one of the Hawkeye Invitational at the Finkbine Golf Course.
The Jackrabbits played the entirety of round one and about half of round two before play was suspended due to darkness. Players will finish round two, then play the third and final round on Saturday.
The Jackrabbits are 6-over as a team through seven holes of the second round.
Matthew Schaefer and
Noah Boraas are in a tie for 34th place at 2-over to lead the Jacks, followed by
Luke Honner,
Ty Kretz and
Jonah Dohrer.
Schaefer and Boraas both carded a 74 (+2) on their first lap and are even so far in round two, through 11 and 10 holes, respectively. Honner posted a 76 (+4) in round one and is currently firing 1-under on round two with six par holes and a birdie. He is in a tie for 40th place.
Kretz is in a tie for 45th place. The sophomore opened the day at 5-under through his first 12 holes and finished his first round with a 70 (-2). He is 6-over through 11 holes of round two.
Jonah Dohrer is in a tie for 62nd place at 7-over-par.
Tyler Seeling is competing individually for SDSU. He is also in 40th place at 3-over-par.
Iowa, the host team, leads the team standings. Blake Lorenz of Wichita State is in medalist position at 7-under.
