HARRIS, Mich. - The South Dakota State men's golf team sits in fourth place following the first two rounds of the Island Resort Intercollegiate Sunday.
Luke Honner is in ninth place on the individual leaderboard with 18 holes left to play.
SDSU tallied a 282 (-6) on the first lap Sunday morning, then a 280 (-8) in the afternoon round. With a 562 (-14), the team has a one shot lead over Boise State and is one shot behind Miami (Ohio). Michigan holds the top spot with a 557 (-19).
"I'm incredibly proud of this team today," said head coach
Parker Edens. "282 this morning was by far the best round we've ever had here at Sage Run and they came out and shot 280 this afternoon to top it. There are so many positives from today. I'm looking forward to watching them take on the challenge tomorrow. Luke had the best day of his young college career today, it's so satisfying to see all the hard work he's put in the last four-five months. This team is really feeding off each other right now and they will see the benefits of that soon. Today was a great day for Jackrabbit Golf!"
Honner fired a 70 (-2) in the morning round followed by a 67 (-5) in the afternoon, two of the best single rounds of his Jackrabbit career.
