BROOKINGS, S.D. – Special Olympics South Dakota and South Dakota State Athletics are excited to announce Special Olympics Night during the SDSU women's basketball game next Tuesday, December 17 at First Bank & Trust Arena. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
Special Olympics Night will include the game ball being presented by Special Olympics South Dakota CEO/President Darryl Nordquist and two athletes, Joe Merriam and Scotty Briggs.
There will also be a variety of presentations highlighting Special Olympics during the game including timeout festivities and a Rivalry Game at halftime between the Dakota State Unified basketball team and the South Dakota State Unified basketball team. Special Olympics' Unified Rivalry Games brings college students and Special Olympics athletes together to compete against each other's rival schools in a respectful and fierce competition. The goal of the series is to promote an inclusive culture on college campuses and to unite people with and without intellectual disabilities.
