GOODYEAR, Ariz. - South Dakota State's
Bryson Mercier sits in a tie for ninth place following the opening round of the Loyola Intercollegiate Sunday at Palm Valley Golf Club. As a team, SDSU is even-par and tied for 10th place.
Mercier fired a 3-under 69 during Sunday's round, his best 18 holes of the year and matching his career low. He rolled in four birdies on the day and had one just hole over par.
Ty Kretz is tied for 14th place, also with an under-par round. His 70 (-2) included five birdie holes.
Luke Honner finished the day in a tie for 55th place with a 73 (+1) scorecard and four birdies.
Tyler Seeling tallied a 76 (+4, t-84th place) and
Jonah Dohrer carded a 77 (+5, t-91st place).
As a team, SDSU posted a 288 (E) day-one score. The Jacks are only one shot behind Utah Valley in ninth and two strokes behind a tie for seventh place. North Dakota State is in the lead with a 275 (-13).
Loyola Maryland's Michael Crowley and NDSU's Jake Skarperund lead the individuals at 7-under-par.
UP NEXT
The team returns to the course for round two Monday at 7:45 a.m. MT. The final round will be played Tuesday.
