SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - South Dakota State used five fourth-quarter treys and a 24-point afternoon from
Paige Meyer to beat No. 9 Omaha 66-53 Saturday afternoon at the PREMIER Center. The Jackrabbits advance to the semifinal round of the Summit League Tournament for the third consecutive season.
Meyer connected on five of the Jackrabbits' 10 total 3-pointers. Her game-high scoring effort came on 7-of-15 shooting to go with five rebounds and four assists. Meyer,
Ellie Colbeck and
Madison Mathiowetz combined for all 20 of SDSU's fourth-quarter points. Meyer and Colbeck knocked down two 3-pointers apiece and Mathiowetz added one for 15 points from the floor, then Meyer and Mathiowetz totaled five points from the free throw line. Four of Mathiowetz's game-high six assists game in the fourth.
SDSU started the game 6-for-12 from the floor to lead 17-12 after 10 minutes, led by seven points from Meyer. The Jacks started the second 0-for-6 and allowed Omaha to take the lead during a 10-2 run into halftime. The Mavs led by three, 29-26, at the break.
SDSU quickly regained the lead in the opening moments of the third period and never trailed again. With the Jacks down two,
Brooklyn Meyer put together a five-point personal run to go up by three and later
Paige Meyer scored five straight to go up six, 42-36, with 4:20 remaining in the period. Colbeck and
Jenna Hopp each went 2-for-2 from the foul line in the final four minutes to maintain the advantage.
Omaha worked back to within one with a 7-0 stretch early in the fourth, including an and-one bucket by Grace Cave. SDSU responded with three straight 3-pointers that put the Jackrabbits up 10, 58-48, with 2:20 to play. UNO scored the next three points, then SDSU ended the game with eight of the last ten.
Colbeck finished with eight points, all in the second half, while
Brooklyn Meyer tallied seven points, six rebounds and two blocks before fouling out.
Mesa Byom and
Tori Nelson contributed six apiece and grabbed 12 and eight rebounds, respectively, to lead all players.
SDSU shot 42 percent (19-for-45) from the field and were 10-of-28 from deep. The Jacks had a 42-24 advantage in rebounding and 14-11 edge in assists.
The Mavericks were paced by 14 points from Aliyah Stanley and 12 from Cave. Omaha forced 20 SDSU turnovers that resulted in 17 points for the Mavs.

- SDSU improves to 36-5 all-time at the Summit League Tournament.
- The Jackrabbits improve to 25-5 on the season.
- Tori Nelson played in 154th career game for the Jacks, moving into sole possession of third place in SDSU's record book. She made her 143rd career start, which is second all-time and one game behind record-holder Macy Miller (144).
- Omaha held SDSU to 42 percent, snapping the Jacks' five-game streak of shooting better than 50 percent.

SDSU awaits the winner of No. 4 South Dakota and No. 5 St. Thomas, which will be played Sunday. The semifinal matchup is set for Monday at 12:30 p.m.
