SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Three members of the South Dakota State men's golf team were recognized with all-Summit League accolades Friday. Luke Honner was named to the Summit League Second Team while Bryson Mercier and Ty Kretz picked up honorable mention nods.
Honner, a sophomore, paces the Jackrabbits with an 72.48-stroke average this season. He opened the season with an 11th-place finish at the Island Resort Intercollegiate, where he tallied a 67 (-5) second round and ended with a 5-under three-round score. Honner finished runner-up at the Throw Down Up Top in October with a career-best 9-under scorecard.
Mercier, also a sophomore, averages 72.93 shots this year. He won the Jackrabbit Invitational in March with a 5-under tally. Mercier also placed in the top-10 at the Loyola Intercollegiate, where he went 7-under to claim eighth place.
Kretz averages 72.74 strokes in his junior campaign. His best finish of the season came at the Jackrabbit Invitational, where he placed ninth. He tied for 11th place at the Throw Down Up Top in October and was 14th at the Hawkeye Invitational earlier this month. Kretz was on the Summit League Second Team as a sophomore last season.
A vote of the League's nine head coaches determined the teams, which included six repeat honorees. Oral Roberts led all teams with four selections.
