KRETZ PACES JACKS IN SEASON OPENER

HARRIS, Mich. - The South Dakota State men's golf team finished eighth at the Island Resort Intercollegiate Monday at Sage Run Golf Club. Senior Ty Kretz paced the Jackrabbits with a t-16th-place individual finish.
The Jacks put together their best team round of the weekend Monday, going 1-under on the day to finish with an 886 (+22) tally.
Kretz was also at his best Monday, firing a 68 (-4) to move up six spots on the leaderboard from Sunday evening's finish.
Bryson Mercier finished 35th overall after an even-par final lap. Tyler Seeling went 1-under Monday and finished 44th. Blake Schaper and Marco Lin rounded out the lineup in 62nd and 67th place, respectively.
Jake Olson, Drew Teeter and Jack Randall competed individually for the Jackrabbits. Olson finished 63rd, Teeter was 70th and Randal was 77th overall.
Purdue finished atop the team standings with an 18-under final team score. VCU's Braden O'Grady and UCF's Chase Haygood were co-medalists.
