SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – South Dakota State senior
Tyler Seeling garnered the first Kwik Star Men's Golf Peak Golfer of the Week accolade of the season, Summit League officials announced Thursday.
Seeling entered the clubhouse following the first round of play at the Island Resort Intercollegiate with a score of 73 (+1) but would soon join only a group of 20 other Division I golfers by turning in one of the best rounds in collegiate history. The Breezy Point, Minn., native matched an NCAA single-round record with a 60 (-12) in his second lap that featured three eagles and seven birdies.
The Jackrabbit senior blew away his career-low round and SDSU program record of 65 that he previously set at last year's Summit League Championships. He closed the tournament with a 73 (+1) to shoot a 54-hole total of 206 (-10) and finish 11th among the 81-man field.
