BROOKINGS, S.D. - The South Dakota State women's basketball team set the tone early and led wire-to-wire in a 93-40 win over Kansas City Saturday afternoon at First Bank & Trust Arena.
An impressive first quarter helped the Jacks to a significant lead early on.
Madison Mathiowetz scored 14 of the Jackrabbits' first 19 points and sparked a 22-3 run to end the opening period. SDSU shot 80% from the field with seven 3-pointers and 10 assists on 12 makes in the first 10 minutes to lead 32-10.
Emilee Fox set a new career high with 26 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the 3-point line. The sophomore also tallied six rebounds and dished four assists in the win. Mathiowetz followed with 18 points, 14 of which came in that big first quarter. She also contributed five assists and four rebounds.
Brooklyn posted her seventh double-double of the year and was on triple-double watch, finishing with 11 points, 13 rebounds and a career-high seven assists.
Hadley Thul chipped in a career-best 13 points to go with four rebounds.
The Jackrabbits had a strong showing on both ends of the floor. SDSU finished the game 60% from the field and was lights-out from beyond the arc, knocking down 15-fo-25 attempts from deep. The team racked up a 28-6 advantage in assists and out-rebounded the Roos 41-23. Kansas City was held to 30% shooting for the game.
KC's Emani Bennett came off the bench to score 14 points and was the only Roo to reach double figures.
SDSU improves to 20-6 overall and 10-2 in the Summit League. The Jackrabbits have reached at least 20 wins in 15 consecutive seasons and for the 23rd time under head coach
Aaron Johnston. Kansas City is 7-19 on the year and 4-9 in conference action.

- The Jacks have shot better than 50% 11 times this season.
