Carley Gerving joins the Jackrabbits volleyball program as a graduate assistant coach after playing for the Jackrabbits from 2014 to 2015.
The Lead-Deadwood, native finished her career averaging 1.12 kills and 0.31 blocks per set in 55 matches. Gerving was named to the 2015 Summit League Academic Honor Roll and the 2014 Distinguished Scholar on The Summit League Academic Honor Roll. She was also named to The Summit League Commissioner’s List of Academic Excellence.
Prior to SDSU, Gerving played at Sheridan College for two seasons. She was a 2013 all-conference selection and was named to the Region IX All-Tournament Team. Gerving also helped lead the team to a 20-win season.
Gerving attended Lead-Deadwood as a junior and Rapid City Stevens, one of the state’s top volleyball programs, as a senior. She helped the team to a 20-5 overall record and a No. 3 South Dakota state ranking in 2010.
Gerving graduated from South Dakota State in 2016 with a degree in health education. She currently pursing a degree in nursing at SDSU and is a nurses aid at Sanford Heart Hospital.
