The South Dakota State University women's swimming and diving team completed a weekend sweep of Saint Louis University (Mo.), recording a 111-94 dual victory Sunday morning at the Stanley J. Marshall HPER Center Pool.
The Jackrabbits, who ended the dual season with a 5-3 record, received a pair of individual victories from
Mallory Onisk. A senior from Bear, Del., Onisk won the 400-yard individual medley in a time of 4 minutes, 46.87 seconds, then later claimed the 200 butterfly in 2:14.18. Onisk also swam the butterfly leg on the Jackrabbits' 400 medley relay, which opened the meet by winning the event as she teamed with
Jessica Ferley,
Katie Budahl and
Rachel Musser for a time of 4:05.66.
Ferley and Musser also were a part of SDSU's winning 400 freestyle relay, along with
Christina Gerometta and
Ashley Valdez, which clocked a time of 3:44.16.
Budahl and Gerometta also were individual winners for the Jackrabbits. Budahl continued her dominance in the 200 breaststroke, winning the event by more than 11 seconds with her time of 2:25.84.
Gerometta's victory came in the 500 freestyle, where she turned in a winning time of 5:18.92. She added a runner-up finish in the 200 freestyle, 2:01.29.
For Saint Louis, Jordan Hagar swept the sprints, winning the 50 freestyle in 25.54 seconds and the 100 freestyle in 56.19 seconds.
SDSU will be in training for nearly a month before returning to competition Feb. 6-7 at the Minnesota Challenge in Minneapolis.
