INDIANAPOLIS - The South Dakota State volleyball team suffered its fifth straight loss on Friday night, falling in straight sets to IUPUI in front of 398 fans in the Jungle in Indianapolis.
The loss drops the Jackrabbits to 6-14 overall and 5-7 in league play, IUPUI improves to 15-8 overall and 7-5 in league play.
Ellyce Youngren led the Jackrabbits with 11 kills, Kaitlin Klingemann added 10 kills in the loss. Stacey Wernert led the SDSU defense with 18 digs, while Emily Palmer added a career-high 17 digs.
Monica Suding led the IUPUI attack with 11 kills, Rachel Holmes added 10 kills in the win.
SDSU scored first in all three sets, including a 4-0 run to start the match, but the Jaguars quickly came back in all three sets to seal the win.
The Jackrabbits return to action on Saturday, when the travel to Macomb, Ill., to take on Western Illinois, who lost in four sets to league leader North Dakota State on Friday.
The Jacks downed Western 3-2 in the first meeting of the season on Sept. 25, at Frost Arena.
