TULSA, Okla. - The South Dakota State volleyball team ran into a hot-hitting Oral Roberts team on Friday in a four-set loss at the Aerobics Center in Tulsa, Okla.
The loss drops the Jackrabbits to 9-16 overall and an even 8-8 in the Summit League heading into their final match of the season on Saturday at Centenary. Oral Roberts improves to 11-14 overall, 7-9 in league play.
Ashley Kathol led the Jackrabbits with 10 kills and hit .429 for the match, but the Jackrabbits hit only .117 as a team. Thyele Rechatiko picked up her seventh double-double of the season with 15 set assists and with 12 digs. Senior Stacey Wernert moved closer to reaching the 1,000 dig milestone with 14 digs, leaving her 15 digs shy of the mark.
Serena Cate led three ORU players in double figures with 12 kills, Jocelyn Swier finished with 11 and Tatum Fredeen added 10 for the Golden Eagles, who hit .235 as a team for the match.
After falling in the first two sets 25-21 and 25-14, the Jackrabbits fought back to win the third set 25-21, only to fall 25-19 in the fourth and final set.
The Jacks travel south to Shreveport, La., on Saturday to wrap-up the season against Centenary, who fell to North Dakota State in three sets on Friday. The Jacks and Ladies get things started at 5 p.m.
