WICHITA, Kan.—All-tournament selection sophomore Ashley Beaner led the South Dakota State volleyball team despite the Jackrabbits (1-11) losing 25-15, 25-9 and 25-14 Saturday to seventh-ranked Illinois in the Shockers Volleyball Classic.

Beaner (Sioux Falls) led the Jacks' offense with 10 kills and hit .304. She also collected three block assists. Defensively, senior Lizzie Palmer (Sioux Falls) had 10 digs.

Michelle Strizak and Katie Roustio each recorded 12 kills for Illinois (6-1), and Brandi Donnelly had a match-high 13 digs.

The Jackrabbits return to action Sept. 17 when they play UMKC at 7 p.m. in the Jayhawk Invitational.
