Jacks take first at 13th SDSU Classic

BROOKINGS— Returning to Brookings for the first time since 2017, the Jackrabbits battled muddy conditions at Edgebrook Golf Course to take first place in both the men's and women's races at the 13th SDSU Classic.

Running in front of the home crowd, the men pulled away with a score of 25, coming in ahead of Summit League foes North Dakota State (54) and North Dakota (110).

Thomas Breuckman finished first for the Jacks and set a new personal record, coming in fourth overall with a time of 25:25.17 in the 8K race.
Â
Close behind him and also grabbing a new personal best time was Joseph Minor-Williams who came in fifth overall at 25:30.35. Gabe Peters (25:31.37/6th overall), Ben Olson (25:35.81/7th overall/PR), Micah Mather (25:49.26/8th overall) and Alexander Auch (25:56.03/10th overall) rounded out the top-10 finishers.

SDSU alumnus Joel Reichow (2012-2017) took first place, crossing the finish at 25:14:42.

Anna Donnay paced the Jackrabbits, crossing the finish line of the women's 5K second overall with a time of 18:24.35 to lead the Jackrabbits.

Behind her once again was Ellie Friesen (18:44.17/4th overall), Cailee Peterson (18:47.43/5th overall/PR), Bridget Henne (18:59.12/9th overall) and Leah Hansen (19:05.75/11th overall).

This is the second consecutive meet to feature Henne and Hansen finishing as SDSU's top freshmen.
