After securing the Summit League individual title last weekend in Macomb, Ill., South Dakota State's sophomore cross country standout,
Leah Hansen, will toe the line for the 2020 NCAA Women's Cross Country Championships on Monday in Stillwater, Okla.
Race time is set for 11:50 at the Oklahoma State Cross Country Course. Saturday's race will air on ESPNU and be available on the WatchESPN app. Live results can be found
here.
Given the absence of NCAA regional meets for the 2020 season, individual winners from each conference championship meet earned an automatic bid to the national championship race.
Hansen crossed the line at last Friday's Summit League Championships with a personal-best 6K mark of 21:45.6, following up on her pair of personal-best marks from the Summit League Indoor Track and Field Championships when she took silver in both the 3K (9:43.53) and the 5K (16:32.35) just a week prior.
"I'm excited to compete with the very best on Monday and represent SDSU. I really want to run well for my team because I wouldn't have this opportunity without them," said the Willmar, Minn. native.
"Coach Rod and Anna do all the thinking and planning for our training and they deserve the credit," she added. "I have the easy job of showing up to practice and doing what they have planned."
31 teams were selected to participate in the championship, with 38 individuals selected to participate through an automatic qualifier and at-large selection process.
