SIOUX FALLS – Elisabeth Timmer closed a strong weekend performance at the Coyote Invite with three individual victories Saturday to lead the South Dakota State women's swimming and diving team at Midco Aquatic Center.
A junior from Savaneta, Aruba, Timmer recorded four individual titles in the two-day meet. After winning the 200 individual medley on Friday, Timmer's first title on Saturday came in the 100 backstroke as she clocked a top time of 56.41 seconds during the morning session. She came back later in the day to win both the 100 individual medley (56.43 seconds) and 200 butterfly (2:09.33).
Sianne Downes was third in the 100 backstroke (:57.28) and also took bronze in the 200 breaststroke (2:28.85) later in the day
Timmer paced a group of four Jackrabbits in the top five of the 200 butterfly, with Kristen Davis earning a spot on the podium with a third-place finish (2:16.14). Liezl Ocon (2:20.52) and Zoey Ahrens (2:21.06) finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
Also winning an event title Saturday for the Jackrabbit women was Gabby Gnewuch in the 200 freestyle (1:54.84). She also finished as runner-up in the 100 freestyle in 53.59 seconds.
Samantha Frigard added a second-place effort in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.54), while Kelsey Kocon contributed a third-place finish in the 100 IM (1:00.08) and Frigard placed fifth in 1:00.38.
In the diving events, Aleni Stoakes garnered second place in 3-meter diving with a score of 229.70 points and took third on the 1-meter board with a score of 224.05.
