STOAKES, TIMMER LEAD JACKS VERSUS OMAHA

South Dakota State received multiple event victories from both Elisabeth Timmer and Aleni Stoakes, but Omaha held the upper hand in the majority of the events to record a 173.5-122.5 victory in a Summit League women's swimming and diving dual Friday afternoon at the Stanley J. Marshall Center Pool.
The Jackrabbits dropped to 9-11 in head-to-head competition this season.
Timmer's three wins all came in the freestyle events, starting with a victory in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1 minute, 56.80 seconds. She later claimed the 50 freestyle in 24.29 seconds and the 100 in 52.92 seconds.
Stoakes swept the diving events, starting the afternoon with a season-best score of 224.85 to win on the 1-meter board. She added the 3-meter title later in the session with a score of 220.35 points.
Freshman Sara Juez tied for the event title in the 200 individual medley, sharing top honors with Omaha's Olivia Dendinger with a time of 2:14.00. Kelsey Kocon placed third for the Jackrabbits in 2:15.39. Juez also tallied runner-up finish in both the 100 butterfly (1:00.12) and the 200 butterfly (2:16.80), while fellow freshman Marissa Branham came in second in the 200 breaststroke, 2:30.07.
Kocon and teammate Sianne Downes traded the second and third spots in the two backstroke races on Friday. Kocon finished second in the 100 backstroke (58.32 seconds) and third in the 200 back (2:09.82), while Downes was runner-up in the 200 (2:06.59) and third in the 100 (59.34 seconds).
In addition, Kocon, Emma Bachelder, Juez and Timmer teamed for a second-place finish in the 200 medley relay, opening the meet with a time of 1:47.24.
Zoey Ahrens paced the Jackrabbits in the distance events with runner-up placings in both the 1,000 (10:56.13) and 500-yard (5:21.14) races.
SDSU closed the dual with a second-place time of 3:38.25 in the 400 freestyle relay from the quartet of Bachelder, Emma Walz, Mia Pendleton and Gabriella Gnewuch.
