South Dakota State makes its final regular season road trip to Western Illinois and St. Thomas this weekend.
The Jackrbbits enter the weekend 17-8 (13-1 Summit League) and sit tied for first place in the conference standings with four games remaining. SDSU is on a nine-game win streak.
Five Jackrabbits are averaging more than 9.0 points per contest overall and in Summit League games. Overall, the Jacks are paced by
Myah Selland's 12.4 PPG. Selland is joined in double figures by
Paige Meyer (10.9 PPG) and
Paiton Burckhard (10.6 PPG).
Tori Nelson (9.8 PPG) and
Tylee Irwin (9.2 PPG) round out the starting lineup.
Meyer gives out 4.2 assists overall and tallies 1.3 steals on average, both team highs. The freshman's 4.8 assists per game in Summit contests ranks second in the league. Burckhard and
Kallie Theisen lead the Jacks on the boards with 5.2 and 4.6 rebounds per contest, respectively. Theisen is SDSU's blocks leader with 1.2 per game.
Western Illinois is 14-11 overall and 5-9 in the Summit League. The Leathernecks most recently went 2-1 on a three-game roadtrip, beating North Dakota State and North Dakota while falling to Oral Roberts. Danni Nichols puts up 16.4 points per game to lead the Leathernecks, followed by 12 points apiece for Elizabeth Lutz and Jada Thorpe. Evan Zars pulls down 9.3 rebounds for the Leathernecks and Lutz dishes out four assists, on average.
St. Thomas is 6-18 on the year and 3-11 in the Summit in its first year as a DI program. Like WIU, the Tommies are coming off a three-game road stretch, on which they went 0-3 against North Dakota, North Dakota State and Kansas City. The team paced by Erin Norling and Jade Hill, who both score 13 points per contest for the Tommies. Norling is also the Tommie leader on the glass, grabbing 4.4 rebounds per game while Hill leads the team with 4.1 assists, on average.

- South Dakota State pushed its win streak to nine games last week with wins over Denver and Omaha. The Jackrabbits enter the weekend 17-8 on the season and 13-1 in the Summit League with four games remaining.
- Myah Selland was named the Summit League Player of the Week for her role in last week's wins. She averaged 19.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 2.5 blocks, including a 25 points effort Thursday and a near triple-double Saturday (13 points, 9 rebounds, 8 assists).
- The Jackrabbits are receiving votes in the USA Today / WBCA Top-25 Poll this week and are up to 9th in the College Insider Mid-Major Top-25.

- As of Thursday, all five Jackrabbit starters are averaging 9+ points in conference games - Selland (13.1), Meyer (11.8), Burckhard (11.6), Nelson (10.4), (Irwin 9.4).
- Paige Meyer 61.5%) and Tori Nelson (60.0%) hold the No. 1 and 2 spots on the Summit's field goal percentage chart in conference games. They are the only two shooting 60% or higher.
- Paige Meyer is the only freshman in the country averaging 10+ PPG and 4+ APG while shooting better than 50% from the field.
- Tori Nelson's consistency has been a key factor for the Jacks' offense. The sophomore is 60% from the field in Summit League games and has scored 9+ points in all but three conference games.
- Myah Selland has scored in every appearance of her career, 105 games, and put up more than 10 points in 76 of those contests. She ranks 16th on the Jacks' all-time scoring chart with 1,384 career points.
- Tylee Irwin, Myah Selland and Paiton Burckhard have all scored more than 1,000 career points and tallied more than 500 career rebounds for South Dakota State. SDSU is one of just a handful of programs nationally with three or more active players to record 1,000 points and 500 rebounds.
- State was picked to finish second in the 2021-22 Summit League Preseason Poll, splitting the first-place votes with South Dakota (20-18).
