HONNER, MAGES TABBED ACADEMIC ALL-LEAGUE

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - South Dakota State golf's Luke Honner and McKenzie Mages were named to their respective Summit League Academic All-League teams Wednesday.Â
A total of 11 student-athletes, six women and five men, were selected to the 2024 Golf Academic All-Summit League teams. The honorees were selected for the award based on their academic success in the classroom and standout performances on the course during the 2023-24 golf season.
Honner carries a 3.90 GPA in psychology. He set a new program record for single-season scoring average in his sophomore campaign, averaging 72.20 shots per round. Honner tied for third place overall at the Summit League Championships, leading the Jacks to a runner-up team finish.Â
Mages has a 4.0 GPA in communication studies. She tied for ninth place at the Summit League Championships and led SDSU with a 74.87 scoring average in her sophomore season.Â
To be eligible for the Academic All-League team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale), completed at least one full academic year at the current institution and participated in 50 percent of his team's competitions.

Nominations are brought forth by sports information directors from the league's nine institutions and voting is conducted by both the SIDs and facility athletic representatives (FARs). The team is made up of the five student-athletes receiving the most votes with all ties standing.
