IOWA CITY, Iowa — Gigi Hioki recorded a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle to pace the South Dakota State women's swimming and diving team Friday night at the 2025 Summit League Swimming and Diving Championships.
A sophomore from Honolulu, Hawaii, Hioki moved into second place on the SDSU career charts in the event with a time of 1 minute, 49.86 seconds in the morning preliminaries, then bettered that mark with a time of 1:49.77 during the evening session.
Aubrey Douds placed 13th in the 200 freestyle for the Jackrabbits in a time of 1:53.22
The Jackrabbits picked up the bulk of their points on the day in the 400 individual medley as Emma Ingalls placed sixth in the A final and four of her teammates competed in the B final. During the morning session, Ingalls turned in the second-fastest mark in the event in program history at 4:26.52, but fell slightly off that pace in the finals session to finish in 4:27.97.
Poppy Mead and Annabelle MacAdams joined the SDSU top 10 with respective 10th- and 11th-place times of 4:30.26 and 4:31.54, while Kaylin de Almeida, 12th in 4:31.74, and Hailey Creary, 14th in 4:32.57, rounded out the SDSU contingent.
Also qualifying for an A final was Jenna Currier in the 100 butterfly. Currier placed sixth in 56.22 seconds, while Sara Juez competed in the B final and finished 10th in 56.82 seconds.
Three more Jackrabbits swam in the B final of the 100 breaststroke, led by freshman Hannah Miller with a 10th-place time of 1:04.11. Marissa Branham placed 12th in 1:04.88 and Morgan Nelson was 14th in 1:05.67.
To close the night, the 400 medley relay team of Currier, Branham, Ingalls and Douds combined for a fifth-place time of 3:51.55.
Freshman Lily Davis contributed a point-producing performance in 3-meter diving with a 1th-place score of 200.05 points.
The Jackrabbits head into Saturday's finale in sixth place out of seven squads in the team standings.
