BROOKINGS, S.D.—Jan. 16, 2016—State bragging rights will be on the line Sunday as South Dakota State women's basketball team hosts longtime rival South Dakota. Tipoff for the South Dakota Showdown Series game, presented by South Dakota Corn, is at 2 p.m. in the friendly confines of Frost Arena.
- Sunday's game will be televised live regionally on Midco Sports Net (626 HD channel, standard channel 26) and on ESPN3 (http://es.pn/1mRwyfI). Tom Nieman will call the play-by-play and Brad Newitt will provide the color commentary.
- SDSU sits atop the latest Summit League standings with records of 14-3 overall and 4-0 in league play. It is also receiving votes in the latest Associated Press and Coaches polls and ranked third in the latest College Insider Mid-Major poll, its highest ranking to date.
- The Jackrabbits will be protecting three win streaks Sunday. The Jacks have won their last five games, have a five-game home win streak and won its 12th-straight game (7th-longest in NCAA) vs. league opponents Wednesday with a 61-42 win at Fort Wayne.
- Summit League Freshman of the Year candidate Madison Guebert sank five 3-pointers to tally a game-high 15 points vs. the Mastodons.
- With five wins in a row, the Jackrabbits look to make it six for the first time since winning six consecutive games between Nov. 28 and Dec. 15.
- South Dakota improved to 12-5 overall and 3-1 in Summit League play after defeating North Dakota State, 96-94 in double overtime, in Fargo Thursday. The Coyotes have won six of their last seven games. Their lone loss in the stretch was at Oral Roberts Jan. 6, 60-56.
- Sunday's game marks the 78th meeting between South Dakota State and South Dakota. SDSU leads the series 55-23 after splitting the regular-season games last year and the Jackrabbits winning the championship game at The Summit League Tournament.
