SOUTH DAKOTA STATE STORYLINES
• South Dakota State opened exhibition play Oct. 25 with a commanding 80-46 win over Concordia (Neb.). With the win, the Jackrabbits are 23-0 in exhibition games since entering the Division I era. The most points scored in an exhibition were 105 in 2008 vs. Minnesota-Crookston and the fewest were 63 vs. Bemidji State in 2010.

• Three Jacks scored in double figures led by Selland's 17 points. She was a rebound shy of a double-double with a game-high nine boards.Â
Larson added 16 points and five rebounds. Burckhard tallied 11 points and seven rebounds, while Megan Butlsma came off the bench for eight points and six rebounds.

• Eleven of 14 Jackrabbits scored against the Bulldogs. Larson and Miller each dished four assists while Selland added four steals and Larson three blocks.

• South Dakota State returns four starters and eight players from last year's squad; which finished 26-7 overall and 12-2 in The Summit League. The Jackrabbits made their 12th consecutive postseason and eighth NCAA appearances.

• South Dakota State reached the 20-win plateau for the 11th time in the last 12 seasons under 19th-year head coach
Aaron Johnston. The Jackrabbits have won at least 20 games in 21 seasons since women's basketball started at SDSU in 1966.

Macy Miller is on pace to become South Dakota State's all-time scoring leader this season. She enters the season with 1,717 career points and is fourth on the career list. She needs 171 points for the top spot. With 283 points, the guard will become SDSU's first 2,000-point scorer. Miller needs 561 points to become The Summit League's all-time leading scorer. For the record, Miller scored 603 points last season and averages 15.8 career points per game.

Madison Guebert will be climbing the SDSU all-time scoring chart after collecting 1,340 career points the last three seasons. She enters the season ranked 20th.

• The Jacks' schedule includes games against nine NCAA Tournament teams from last year—Baylor, Buffalo, Central Michigan, Creighton, Drake, Green Bay, Florida Gulf Coast, Marquette and Oregon. State will play six of its 13 nonleague games in the friendly confines of Frost Arena. SDSU's nonleague slate, along with its 16-game Summit League schedule, allows the Jacks to play seven teams which were ranked inside the 2017-18 NCAA RPI Top 50.

• Head coach
Aaron Johnston is moving up The Summit League coaching charts. He is The Summit League's leader in overall victories (287) and league (151) wins. Johnston needs 12 games coached to move into third in overall games coached in The Summit League and one game to move into fourth in Summit League games coached.

• Johnston enters the season eighth among the winningest active coaches in NCAA Division 1. He has won 74.7 percent of his games in 18 years. Geno Auriemma ranks first, winning 88.4 percent.
• The Jackrabbits are celebrating 12 years in The Summit League and the 53rd season of women's basketball in the friendly confines of Frost Arena in 2018-19. The Jackrabbits are 482-121 (.799) in Frost Arena all-time.

ABOUT UNIVERSITY OF MARY
- The University of Mary finished the 2017-18 season 13-16 overall and 9-13 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
- UMary was picked to finish sixth overall in the NSIC preseason coaches' poll and third in the North Division. Junior forward Gabbie Bohl was named the NSIC Preseason Player of the Year after she averaged a team-high 18 points per game and hauled down 7.3 rebounds per game while blocking 1.4 shots per game last year. She shot 50.1 percent from the floor and had six double-doubles. Bohl ranked third in the NSIC in scoring and in field-goal percentage, ninth in blocks and 11th in rebounding. Her 182 free throw attempts were first in the NSIC and 12th in NCAA Division II.
- The Marauders return three other starters, including All-NSIC second-team honoree junior forward Cassie Askvig, who averaged 14.3 points per game and a team-high 8.8 rebounds per game. UMary also returns junior guard Lauren Rotunda, who averaged 10.3 pppg and was the team leader in assists (3.3) and steals (1.5). Sharp-shooting sophomore guard Macy Williams is back after knocking down 43 3-pointers for the Marauders and averaging 7.3 ppg and dishing 2.5 assists per game.
- University of Mary finished last year shooting 41.8 percent from the field, 33.0 percent from long range and 69.9 percent from the foul line.
- Rick Neumann is in his eighth year as head coach at UMary.

UMARY SERIES
- The Jackrabbits and the Marauders have met once before in an exhibition game in 2015-16. SDSU won 85-40 and then-freshman Madison Guebert scored 16 points, sinking five 3-pointers.
