VERONA, WIS. —Meghan Ford and Carson Noecker led South Dakota State with outstanding performances among top-tier teams at the Wisconsin Pre-National Meet Saturday afternoon after Nicole Swanson and Cormick Logue led the Jacks to a second and third-place team finish at the Drews/Neubauer Invitational Saturday morning.
"The women brought a lot of focus and remained very composed early on in the race. They ran controlled, which allowed them to move up seven spots as a team in the final 2K, more than any other team in the race."
WOMEN'S TEAM
Ford placed 12th among Power Four competition to lead the women's team to a ninth-place finish at the Wisconsin Pre-Nationals Meet. Ford saw a stellar performance as she broke the Jackrabbit Zimmer Championship Course record with a new personal record of 20:49.9. The record was previously set in 2017 by Rachel King with a time of 20:55.9.
Jessica Lutmer was next across the line for SDSU. Lutmer clocked a time of 21:33.6 to take 50th overall. Courtney Stadter clocked a new PR of 21:47.9 to take 72nd. Jenna Soine finished in 76th, with a time of 21:50.2 for a new personal record. Kayla Christopherson rounded out the scoring five in 90th with a time of 22:00.8.
Grace Waage took 104th in her second meet of the year, finishing with a time of 22:12.2. Mya Kizer crossed the line at 22:42.7 to take 144th. Emma Ecker rounded out the Jackrabbit squad in 161st, clocking a time of 23:04.9.
MEN'S TEAM
Noecker led the men to a 17th-place team finish at the Wisconsin Pre-Nationals Meet. Noecker ran incredibly well, finishing fifth ahead of several Power Four competitors, including the first runner for second place University of Illinois. The sophomore finished with a time of 23:56.5, just four seconds short of the Jackrabbit record for the Zimmer Championship Course.
Cody Larson was second across the line for the Jackrabbits. After suffering from an early pileup on the course, Larson moved his way up to 59th, finishing with a time of 24:54.8. Brandon Kampsen and Josh Becker crossed the line together in 94th and 95th, respectively. Kampsen clocked a time of 25:14.3 while Becker finished at 25:14.7. Eli Hall rounded out the scoring five for South Dakota State as the freshman finished in 113th with a time of 25:30.4.
Jackson Dutcher was the sixth Jackrabbit across the line. Dutcher clocked a time of 25:35.4 to place 121st. Ben Anteau took 129th with a time of 25:46.9. Will Lohr rounded out the men's squad in 169th with a time of 26:57.3.
Swanson led the women's team to a second-place finish at the Tori Neubauer Invitational. Swanson clocked a time of 22:35.0 to take fifth out of 237 competitors. Kadense Dooley was next across the line at 22:58.8 to take 11th place. Emma Gonzalez finished 21st for the Jackrabbits, finishing with a time of 23:16.7. Nina Dawson and Lindsey Rotz finished together to round out the scoring five. Dawson took 49th with a time of 24:05.5, while Rotz clocked a time of 24:07.1 to finish 52nd.
Hannah Spoden and Hannah Neusch also ran at the Neubauer Invite. Spoden placed 61st with a time of 24:16.1, while Neusch finished at 25:10.1 to take 91st.
MEN'S TEAM
The men's team took third and was led by Logue. Logue finished 15th overall with a time of 25:33.1. Dale Johnson finished hot on Logue's tail in 17th, clocking a time of 25:41.1. Nathan Notgrass crossed the line not long after at 25:48.4 to take 19th. Cashton Johnson finished in 26th with a time of 26:01.1 and Luke Johnson rounded out the scoring five with a time of 26:35.6 to place 50th out of 279 competitors.
Will Harder and Tyler O'Neill also ran at the Drews Invite. Harder clocked a time of 27:33.9 to take 93rd while O'Neill finished 120th with a time of 28:08.7.

The Jacks head into championship season as they travel to Vermillion, S.D. to compete in the Summit League Cross Country Championship Meet on Nov. 2.
